Today was a lesson on texture and color splendidly presented by Snow Canyon State Park, Utah

Snow Canyon State Park Petrified Sand Dunes
Snow Canyon - Lichen on Lava

Snow Canyon State Park in Utah is a well-maintained natural wonder in Southwest Utah. The richness in the textures and colors is amazing, whether it is in the undulating patterns of the petrified red sand dunes or the brilliant splashes of yellow, red and white lichen across ancient lava rock.

While it was 100 degrees under a clear blue sky,  I spent six hours roaming through the park, enjoying its many wonders. I then drove around southern Utah, enjoying the change from desert to high desert to pine forested mountains.

Tomorrow, I head to Bryce Canyon National Park and Cedar Breaks.
