An Amazing Two Days in London – Bath – Stonehenge and now on to… Pisa Italy!

Yep folks, it has been a while since I have posted here. Probably because the group spent so much time taking in all of the sights in London. Using London passes, the Hop on, Hop off tours, and of course foot, bus and train transportation, the students really got to know the major hotspots in London. Whether it was viewing the city from the top of the London Eye, enjoying a wonderful production of “Much Ado About Nothing” in Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, or sitting down for a pint and a great meal at the many pubs and restaurants in the city, it has been a wonderful whirlwind two days. The Journalism students traveled to Bath and toured the Roman Baths and then moved on to the mysterious Stonehenge. Bath is a beautiful city and Stonehenge was quite intriguing.

Today was another story. After missing a connecting train, 12 of the 18 students on the PR side of the trip found themselves stranded in Gatwick Airport. 6 hustled and made their flight and moved as planned on to Rome. We will have to wait to see how their trip went. Meanwhile, after a marathon of phone calls and web work by Drs’ Bond and Nulph with the incomparable Peggy Ellis on the other end of the phone at Missouri Western, all was saved. The twelve found themselves on a flight to Pisa, Italy and after a wonderful meal at the Pizzeria Trattoria Toscana, walked to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. What started as a possible disaster, ended up in an amazing adventure. We are staying in the Grand Hotel Duomo and from the rooftop terrace, have a 360 degree view of Pisa, the tower and the surrounding mountains. Tomorrow, we head to Switzerland!
